Hiive has rebranded as Clarity, reflecting its evolution from a marketplace for secondary transactions into a broader financial services platform for highly valued private companies.
Since launch, the company has grown to more than $6 billion in closed transaction volume, with over $2 billion in assets under management and more than 3,000 private companies listed on the platform.
Today, the business also helps private companies raise capital and manage shareholder liquidity, while giving institutions and sophisticated investors access to private-market opportunities through a wider set of products and services.
That growth eventually made the Hiive identity feel too narrow.
“Because we have outgrown our old identity”
Explaining the reason for the rebrand, Founder and CEO Sim Desai said the company had evolved from a “disruptive, bottom-up marketplace” into a financial services business with 220 employees and several teams focused on institutional liquidity and transaction execution.
The new name is closely tied to the problem the company wants to solve. Private markets are still fragmented and difficult to navigate, with limited transparency around pricing, liquidity, and access. Clarity positions the business around making those markets easier to understand and act on.
Clarity has always been our foundation. Now, it's our name. - Sim Desai, Founder & CEO of Clarity
The rebrand also came with new institutional capabilities, including a funds marketplace, a dedicated institutional interface, institutional-grade trade execution, deeper market data, and portfolio management tools.
$3.5 Million for Clarity.com
Sim revealed that Clarity paid $3.5 million for Clarity.com. For the team, owning the matching .com was part of the rebrand from the beginning.
When we embarked on our rebrand, owning the .com felt non-negotiable if we wanted to build a category-defining business. - Sim Desai, Founder & CEO of Clarity
He also framed the .com as a form of brand protection. Owning Clarity.com gives the company greater control over its brand and helps protect the identity and recognition it builds over time.
In a world where almost every idea or image can be replicated, the .com is one of the last definitive brand moats. There is only one Clarity.com. - Sim Desai, Founder & CEO of Clarity
The rebrand marks a natural next step for a business that has outgrown its original identity. With a name that better reflects what the company has become and Clarity.com behind it, the brand is well positioned for its next stage of growth.
