ASI, a Boston-based AI company formerly known as Air Space Intelligence, has raised a $325 million Series C round at a $3 billion valuation. The round was led by Spark Capital, with participation from affiliates of Citadel Securities, Meritech Capital, Craft Ventures, Energy Impact Partners and Andreessen Horowitz.
ASI builds AI software that simulates and predicts how critical infrastructure will operate, helping organizations plan ahead and avoid disruption. Its platform is used in air traffic management, power grids and military operations. Customers include Delta Air Lines, Alaska Airlines, United Airlines, National Grid, and the US Army and Air Force.
The company says it will use the capital to expand into energy, logistics and defense, and to grow its research and engineering teams.
In addition to the funding, ASI appears to have acquired ASI.com, replacing AirSpace-Intelligence.com. As the company expands beyond airspace into energy, logistics, defense and other areas, its previous name becomes more restrictive. The shorter name and domain give the brand more flexibility, make it easier to position across different sectors, and provide a simpler online identity that can grow with the business.
Three-letter .com domains are highly prized for their rarity, value, and versatility, often used as acronyms for longer company names. With all 17,576 possible combinations already taken among over 150 million registered .com domains, owning one is a mark of prestige, credibility, and a long-term vision for growth and recognition.
